VIRGIN ATLANTIC CLUBHOUSE LAX / VIRGIN ATLANTIC / SLADE ARCHITECTURE / SITU FABRICATION / LOS ANGELES / 2015
OVERVIEW /
The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at LAX Airport WAS A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WITH SLADE Architecture in the execution of a complex design project with an accelerated timeline. SITU fabricated the entire curvilinear Corian solid surface feature wall that begins at the entrance with the reception desk, then transforms into a series of bar tables, flowing seamlessly into the bar counter top. A copper sheet metal back splash compliments the solid surface material and culminates in the bar's feature wall. SITU fabricated solid bamboo table as well as custom-upholstered sofas distributed throughout the lounge.
ROLE /
As part of the fabrication design team, I aided in the parametric 3D modeling and engineering of the various components that comprise the project. A primary focus of my contribution was the fabrication design and shop drawings for the 24' long solid bamboo table WITH curves THAT pay homage to California's surfing culture.
